This year our school's motto is "Level Up!" We are always looking for new and innovative ways to meet each and every one of our students' diverse learning styles. We are looking for effective teaching methods to help them reach new heights.
I teach in a school-wide Title One school.
My Fifth Grade students might not have an abundance of financial resources, but what they do have is an abundance of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, especially when it involves technology.
My students are very diverse learners. Recent test scores shows them at various levels, with some well below grade level, while others are scoring above standard. Some of them need additional support to learn the English language, and some of them need additional support to become strong mathematicians.
My Project
TenMarks's Teach is a powerful interactive Smartboard program that presents math concepts in an engaging way. My students will be guided with my help through the concept building lessons as we build a strong foundation in numerical literacy and problem solving skills.
Tenmark's Premium works by assessing each students to find out that child's strengths and weakness. The program then prescribes individual lessons for acceleration and remediation. This differentiation is vital to moving all students forward to reach new levels. This program allows teachers to look at students' strengths and weaknesses, so we can pinpoint misconceptions and move on in areas where students are excelling.
I can use the Tenmark's technology to address the needs of my entire class, small groups, and individuals. I can use portions to assess and portions to provide a strong homework piece.
Once a student feels behind in math, he or she often believes that math is just too hard.
They often think they cannot get caught up. Others get bored because they are ready for harder challenges. The use of the Tenmarks program will help me address my students' needs on an individual basis. My goal is that all students will be successful. This tool will help make this goal a reality. My whole class will be able to "Level Up."
