Taking It to Another Dimension

My students need geometry materials, including large and small three dimensional geometric shapes, advanced geometric shapes, overhead folding geometric shapes, overhead angles for flat geometrical shapes, geometry posters, and Geometry Quizmo.

Welcome to my world! As a sixth grade teacher in an urban setting, I teach an active group of kids who are eager to learn. Holding their interest can be quite challenging, for sure!

Urban kids are not afraid to speak their minds. So, when they tell me that my box of geometric shapes is lame, I am prone to believe them. Who else but a teacher would put such things as a can of soup and old cereal box out on the demonstration table? These items do not seem to endure the test of time. That is, they are dented, leaning over and becoming quite sickly looking!

I wish to obtain supplies to reinforce and support learning geometry. Having both flat and dimensional models will help my students visualize shapes as well as lead to solving for area, perimeter and volume. Geometry posters would be a quick glance source for expanding minds. The "creme de la creme" would be to have overhead geometric supplies! I can hear it now amidst the giggles: "What happened to your soup can?"
