Help me give my students Catch the Bug Electronic Packs and the Electric Caddystack kits for take home science kits. My students are struggling with understanding Next Generation science standards with virtual online learning.
I work with 4th graders from a high poverty rural area. Students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch, with 85% of our students below the poverty line. Students in our area are not near high tech industries or organizations, with the income source in our area arising from retail, fast food, and rural agriculture. Currently, they are doing their schoolwork in a virtual environment.
My Project
Last week during our classroom virtual learning science time, I had a student tell me that he misses hands-on science activities that he can engage in. Our school is currently virtual, and demonstrating science for my students without the at home supplies, has taken out the spark. My students deserve the best opportunities for learning in these difficult times.
Having science material supplies delivered for at-home use will help motivate my students to be excited about their virtual learning.
Students will be able to have kits and supplies at their fingertips, so the virtual lessons will be more motivating. Energy educations will be highly engaging.
