My Project
As a school library media coordinator, it is my responsibility to teach students key skills aligned with the core curriculum and instill in them the importance of responsible and effective use of school library resources. By purchasing “Book Buddy” bags for our K-2 and Exceptional Children students, we will provide a safe place to store their library books in their cubbies, reducing the risk of books getting lost or damaged. All too often, especially with younger grades (K-1), we see library books that cost anywhere from $25 to $35 come back to the library with broken spines, water damage from spills, crumpled pages, or potentially lost items.
By providing students with Book Buddy bags, we are offering an alternative storage solution to keep library books safe from damage and loss in their backpacks.
Our Exceptional Children will also be included in this initiative as many of the students who are identified and receiving services are often traveling to various locations throughout the building. Therefore, this bag could be used not only to transport their library books, but also to allow them to carry their iPads and other essential items safely and responsibly to reduce the risk of dropping, breaking, or losing these school-purchased supplies.
