Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My energetic and curious first graders are learning to read, recognize sounds, write their ABCs and some their first and last names. The first time I took them to the media center, it was like a stroll on the beach for them. They stared at their book smiling. I let them spend time looking through their books because most of them are nonreaders. When it was time to move on, there was the sound of moans throughout the class!
My Project
My small world consists of ESOL, ESE, and general Ed. The books I am requesting will allow my students to have a classroom library. Yes, they can go to our school media center. But having a classroom library, I can have a reading center for group rotations. This will allow my students to choose a book on their reading level.
Picture my little first graders staring at the shiny new books!
They will be anxious for group rotations so they can go to the reading center and grab a good book to stroll down reading lane with. I know the excitement will be beyond belief.
