This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am seeking assistance to attend Breathe For Change workshops - a comprehensive training program designed for educators. This is an opportunity for me to focus on my own wellness development first, to decrease stress and help support my commitment to serve my students by making my work life more sustainable. I will then learn to facilitate mindfulness, social-emotional learning (SEL), and mindful movement practices within my own classroom and possibly others in the community as well.
This training will give me the tools to have a better understanding of the mindfulness and SEL practices themselves and how to offer them in a more intentional way.
I believe it will help me become a better teacher and my students and the community will benefit. I anticipate being empowered to design a space within the classroom to develop social-emotional intelligence. We will see an increase in student confidence, well-being, and improved academic learning.
