My Project
The students in my school are inquisitive and eager learners who are ready to take on the world. They are excited to learn new concepts and skills. They have a great desire to learn, but they also come with different needs, backgrounds and experiences that makes learning different for all of them. They also come from different economic backgrounds. For some, providing a snack isn't a problem. For others, bringing a snack to help them get through the afternoon is a struggle on the family.
By having a selection of snacks from which my students may choose, it will help my students stay focused and engaged during afternoon instruction.
My students eat an early lunch. By the afternoon, they are hungry. This can be a very frustrating feeling for a young child, making it difficult to give his/her best effort. I have seen how the attitude of a hungry student can change from argumentative and uncooperative to that of being focused and agreeable, just from having a snack. I think it's the least I can do to make sure my students needs are being met.
More than half of students from low‑income households
