My Students
Have you ever tried to complete math work as a class, step-by-step, out of a tiny math workbook? First graders especially, need large graphics with clear instruction, so they can see EXACTLY what to do and where to do it.
Our school is a public charter in California, and our students vary from those with excellent parental support to none at all, which heightens our need for excellent teaching tools.
Our curriculum is thematic and similar to the International Baccalaureate program. We are a very unique school with high standards and even higher levels of achievement. We have a staff full of passionate educators that go above and beyond for their students every day.
My Project
With this projector, we will be able to enhance our hands on curriculum with vivid depictions of specific lesson components. In particular, math will be clarified at a whole new level. With first grade students, it is important to go step by step, so that they can clearly see the concept in action. Imagine looking at a 100s chart as a class and trying to explain how to count 10 before or 10 after a number, while not having a large visual. These students are at a pivotal time in their education, and they require differentiated instruction that actively engages them in what they are learning. This projector will really take us to the next level!
Our students are growing up in a very competitive time in education, where technology is abundant...in some schools.
Some of the classes at our school have these projectors and some do not...how is that fair?! Our students deserve to have everything that we can provide them and more! This kind of technology will only advance all of the wonderful teaching strategies that we use to impart important concepts and new knowledge for these little people! Imagine the possibilities with teaching reading!
