My students need books in our classroom library. This wish list has a variety of books that students in previous years got excited about! Please help me increase interest in reading!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are growing up in the Van Nuys community in California. This will be my first year teaching. As an incoming new teacher, I am very excited! My school has been identified to be a low performing school. Hence, many of my students need support with their learning. I have visited the school and have met many of my students. They have a great deal of energy and a hunger for learning.
Please help me be the best equipped to foster a love for reading by helping me come into my classroom with a full, accessible classroom library.
My kids deserve to have access to many books. Do you remember the first time you got hooked on a book? Many of us never forget our first "a-ha!" moment. Your donation would let me bring that same moment to my students. Thank you!
My Project
Thank you for taking an interest in my project for a collection of books. The purpose of this project is to build a small library in my new classroom. I am a first year teacher who previously served with a non-profit organization. There, I provided support to students with both math and literacy.
Now, I will be teaching 8th grade English in my very own hometown because of my passion for literacy and for learning.
My hometown is considered a low-income community. Over 90% of students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Please be a part of my journey by helping me to bring some awesome books to get kids excited about reading! Many of the books are culturally relevant. My goal is for students to feel connected to what they are reading and to get them talking about literature and the effect it has on their living experience.
Thank you so much for choosing to be a part of this!
