My students need adjustable batting tees and 3 foam coated bat sets for our striking and ball handling skills.

My Students

Do you remember those first days of spring when you just couldn't wait to get outside? The feeling of grabbing a bat, ball and your friends for a pick up game? My students are in LOVE with being outside and need equipment that will teach the love of the game of baseball!

My students are active and engaged learners.

The more they move, the more they learn. We are a Title 1 school, and most of my students can not afford outside structured sporting situations. Many of their families are just trying to make ends meet, so any skills that are taught within the physical education classroom are directly translated back to their home life. Many students come to my next class letting me know they practiced kicking a ball, dancing to music or doing yoga poses they learned in my class with their friends and family at home. The school is also located in a large neighborhood. Many days when there are no students at school or afterschool, students can be found on the playground or in the field behind the school playing. Many times they will often ask to borrow equipment so that they can play with friends.

My Project

My students will be learning how to strike an object by hitting a ball off a tee. With this basic skill they will be able to successfully participate in baseball and softball games not only in their own neighborhood but possibly within community organizations.

Donations to this project will help my students properly practice batting and striking skills.

Currently we are using cones, set at various heights on milk crates. While this works, I have students who range from 3 ft. tall to almost 5 1/2 ft. tall. With such a wide range of height, someone is bound to be working at the wrong batting height for them. Students will get proper instruction on not only how to hit a ball but also at the level that is natural and correct for their body.
