Our school is a small, rural Pre-K through fifth-grade school with a student population of 246. The students here work hard and seem to always have a positive attitude about school. They enjoy learning new things and being a part of the community here. Being in a rural school makes it difficult for our students to participate in team sports that are offered in the closest town. Many of our students come from low-income homes, and they are faced with difficult situations.
Our students have good hearts, and our faculty and staff strive to give them as many opportunities for success as we possibly can.
Being at school is sometimes their only opportunity to see a different world other than the one that they live in every day.
My Project
My students are in need of early learning manipulatives and materials to use while they are participating in remote learning through classroom and individual Zoom meetings. The at-home early learning materials kits will provide the preschool students with construction paper, glue, writing materials, and learning manipulatives to enhance their learning at home. These at-home learning kits will help make it easier for parents to help their children learn at home. The requested books will be given to students to read and enjoy at home. This will foster a literacy-rich environment at home.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
