My students need 9 sets of leveled books, covering levels K-3.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Secor's classroom raised $462
This project is fully funded
I teach first grade at a high-need, low income, title 1 elementary school. My students do not have access to good books at home and they very rarely visit the public library.
The school is very old and so are the resources in it. We send home boring old text books for take home readers. The books do have a lot of sight words in them, but they are sooooo boring and out of date. The kids are tired of them and it is difficult to generate any good discussion from them anyway. Parents always complain that they are boring and their kids do not like reading them at home.
It would so great if we could obtain some leveled readers for our students to take home to read every night. This way we could send home a fun and interesting book that was assigned nightly to each student based on their reading ability!
You could help to make it possible for increasing the reading skills of my first graders. With new leveled books, I am sure that my kids would be more interested and enthusiastic about reading.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
