Why be limited by the four brick walls that surround the classroom? Books (and a little imagination) can take our class around the world and back...with a little help!
I teach in a low-income school where travel is extremely limited to local areas.
Most of my students know little of the countries around the world and they are fascinated by other cultures and countries. Their multitude of questions is sometimes difficult for me to keep up with!
My Project
By providing my class with a collection of books describing cultures around the world, you can help to take my class around the world (in our imaginations, of course!). These books will supplement our limited Social Studies curriculum and allow my students to begin thorough research on countries from around the world. We will be able to use these books to form our entire curriculum - learning about math, reading, writing and social studies from around the world. However, we can't start that project until we learn more about the countries themselves!
Your generous donation will allow my students to begin to explore countries from around the world and serve as the spring board for many projects throughout the school year.
We will be able to compare cultures and traditions and use these themes for writing. Your help will inspire my students to travel around the world!
