My Students
Worrying about food, money, transportation, and clothing are adult worries, yet many of the students at my school face these "grown-up" problems each day. In spite of the challenges they face, they constantly rise to the occasion and frequently blow me away with their abilities to learn.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Some have, and some do not. It is my job to level their playing field so that all have a chance to be successful. Through hands-on, exciting, and active assessment, all students in my third grade, inner-city classroom prove themselves time and time again.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of outdoor, durable, kid-friendly clipboards. Often times I desire to give my students unique learning opportunities beyond the 4 walls of my classroom. Sometimes we do research in the library, webquests in the computer lab, sketches of animals in the art room, or journaling and nature observations by our school pond. Once, we even did math on the playground. These amazing learning experiences are difficult for my students without the use of a clipboard. I have used traditional clipboards in the past, yet they can become tricky to "clip" with. I even purchased some plastic ones, but now they are chipping and cracking from extensive use. This set of clipboards is made for heavy use, and even comes with a pocket on the back for transporting papers as the students travel. These will be invaluable to my students as we take the learning "outside."

They deserve the best in every aspect of life, especially in their education.
