My students are fun, compassionate, and curious young children. Every day is fresh, new, and exciting, even on Zoom!
Our school is one of the most diverse in the district and is located in a tight-knit community in the heart of San Francisco.
Many of my students' cousins, parents, and even grandparents have attended our school!
The community bond shows through as students giggle, play, and learn together throughout the day.
My Project
Our first month of remote learning is going very well! However, it is disheartening to assign students ebooks and videos rather than real, beautiful, tactile books. I've chosen many old-favorites, books I enjoy reading to my students every single year. I have also searched for a few new titles bases on the identities and interests of my current students.
I cannot wait to see the looks on my students' faces when they receive a bag of brand new books, just for them!
Incorporating physical books into remote learning will make it more enjoyable for everyone. Children are natural readers. I see the joy on their faces every year as they browse books in our classroom library during snack time, choice time, and, of course, reading time. Thank you for helping me bring the joy of reading to my students' homes and into our virtual classroom!
