This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of learners and care about each other as a true class family. Students come together to support each other in all that they do. They are caring and compassionate and love to learn.
Our class is predominantly low income students.
Almost 50% are English Language Learners from all different countries. There are many refugees in our school and other students with challenging backgrounds. Nevertheless, the students are hard workers and dedicated to learning. We are a close-knit family of teachers and learners.
My Project
My students need sturdy take home folders in order to transport their homework and books. These folders will contain sheet protectors with valuable information in them, such as helper pages with common comprehension questions. In addition, the folders will contain a plastic bag in which students will put their take home books.
Having quality supplies makes students feel good about school.
It is important to have good, sturdy, plastic folders because paper ones are too cheap and rip, tear and are useless after the first month of school. However, plastic folders are too expensive for many parents to purchase and students are not able to bring in adequate supplies. With your help, my students will have what they need to be successful in school.
