My Project
My students come from a variety of cultures, low-income families, and hard-working, middle-class families, which therefore results in plenty of hardships for them daily. This being said though, they are incredibly resilient. They are dedicated students with wonderful attitudes, despite their disadvantages. The struggles they overcome are more than many adults can handle, but they do so with a smile on their faces. The book that I have chosen to read aloud this year with my class (Simon B. Rhymin) has aspects in which my students can make connections with and can relate to! My students loved it SO much, we are ready for PART 2!
The surprise, they will each get their very own copy to take home!
My hope is that in reading these books, not only are students falling in love with reading, they are also building empathy, relating to the various characters in the stories as well as learning about different cultures.
