My Students
My students are a diverse group of thinkers and learners who come together in the spirit of learning. We are a public, urban Montessori middle school, and we are still emerging and growing as a community. We are located in a historically diverse and low-income community. 77% of our students receive free and reduced price lunch.
My students love reading!
They come to middle school with an enthusiasm for their educations and form a strong community. Our Montessori classroom experience is focused on educating the whole child and creating lifelong learners.
My Project
Reading can open our eyes to worlds and perspectives outside of our own experience. Books can also reflect our own lives, helping us to better understand our own lives. During distance learning, with our school buildings closed and access to libraries limited, we are doing everything we can to get books in the hands of students.
Now more than ever, students need access to high quality books.
These books will go directly to students at home, so they will be able to continue to have access to great books even when they are away from the school building. For this project, we selected a large variety books, focusing on diverse authors and #ownvoices stories.
