Help me give my students the materials and supplies they need to be successful during the Take Flight intervention program and during their sensory breaks.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have the privilege to work through the Take Flight intervention! Take Flight is a Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia is a curriculum written by Scottish Rite for Children.
The purpose is to enable students with dyslexia to achieve and maintain better word recognition, reading fluency, and reading comprehension and aid in the transition from a therapy setting to ‘real world’ learning.
We will be using envelopes, mesh bags, and binders to house all of our materials. In addition, we will be using erasable pens throughout the curriculum and need a paper cutter to prep our materials!
Finally, students I work with are in the special education program and receive sensory breaks. During these breaks, students will be able to calm their minds by using lava tiles, and sensory toys/fidgets. I strive to have a fun, cozy, and stimulating corner for students.
The following will be used for sensory breaks: Liquid Floor Tiles, Sensory Fidget Toys, Wonder Wands , Sensory Rings, and Cord Cover (safety for light cords)
The following will be used for Take Flight: Binders, Guillotine Trimmer, Erasable Gel pens, Craft Magnets, Mesh Zipper Bags, Post-it Notes, Colored Paper, Envelopes- Large and small, Wireless Mouse (for interactive portion), Velcro Band, and Post-it Notes.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
