This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Fourth graders at our school are forever learners, creative innovators, and intelligent problem solvers. My school has flatlined on funds for field trips. There is no budget for hands-on experiences. That means my scholars are at a huge disadvantage. While schools are providing multiple field trips a year, my scholars are stuck in the classroom. My scholars deserve opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. They deserve opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-life situations. My scholars are our future. Here is your chance to invest in them.
My Project
The Mosaic Project is an outdoor camping trip that works with fourth graders in Title I schools, to build a more diverse, inclusive, and peaceful community. The hope is that these fourth graders come back to their school community and continue to build a more diverse, inclusive, and peaceful community through leadership as fifth graders! This is how we are going to change this world. By teaching our kids the skills and strategies to understand and grow with people who are different than they are. Help me give my kids the advantage.
I believe in my scholars' ability to change this world, and you should too.
My scholars have never experienced a sleep away trip before. Some of my scholars haven't even stepped outside of the city of Oakland. This experience is literally groundbreaking for them.
