My Students
A typical day in my classroom is loud, energetic, and fast-paced. I teach two high school band courses, music appreciation, yearbook, and co-teach middle school band. My students work extremely hard to come together and develop their musical skills, both as soloists and as part of an ensemble.
My school is a rural Title I school in Oklahoma.
I am currently living my dream of teaching band at my alma mater. The band is known for a long-standing tradition of excellence, and I intend to continue that tradition for many years to come.
My Project
Each year, as our band program continues to grow, we need more resources to help our students be as successful as possible. Our current inventory of music stands are incredibly old and falling beyond repair. They do not stand up straight or hold music very well anymore.
In order to perform their best, my students need to be able to see their music easily.
Unfortunately, the stands we have are decades old and no longer able to hold up a folder full of sheet music without falling over repeatedly. This is just a first step in replacing all of them.
