My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching at one of the largest, and diverse, high schools in Mississippi. We are located in the upper north part of Mississippi, minutes away from Memphis. My students aren't afraid to be themselves, something I admire them for. My choirs have a large spectrum of personalities, backgrounds, and walks of life. Music is what brings us together. I am happy that my classroom is where young people can put their differences aside and come together for a common goal, which is to make beautiful music.
My Project
Each school year, my students perform at several places throughout the community. The performance venues include different churches, performance halls, the courthouse, and various places around our school. I try to record as many of these performances as I can so that my students, and I can go back and critique ourselves.
We currently have a small handheld voice recorder that we sit on a music stand or table, but that usually doesn't provide us with the best results.
This telescoping microphone stand will hold our voice recorder above the choir and will help to provide us with better recordings. This stand is also portable so we can take it with us to all of our performances.
