I teach 18 first graders. We have our daily schedule that we follow. We have goals to achieve…learning to read, write complete sentences, learning how to count to 120. These are not the only goals that we will achieve. We will become respectful students, we will help others and become great leaders.
Our school is a Title I school.
More than 75% of my students receive free and reduced price breakfast and lunch. No matter the home life of my students, they love coming into a safe environment every morning, where they learn new things and achieve greater. My students have a passion and desire to be the best that they can be.
My Project
My school uses Daily 5. For Daily 5, my students are reading to themselves and reading to others. Currently, I have a small child's camping tent, with 6 pillows inside, and a kid sized plastic patio chair in my reading corner. I would like to have more comfortable seating for my students, when they are reading. The beanbags will not only be used during Daily 5. We will use them throughout the day with other activities we do.
Any and all donations to my project will improve my student's outlook on reading, within my classroom.
My students will look forward to having some where else to read, besides in the tent and in the patio chair. If my students are able to have a comfortable place to read, they will be more eager to read.
