Help me give my students a big, beautiful storytime carpet they will absolutely love!

My Students
My school serves a small population of 275 students, so our students are a tight-knit group of kids. I won’t lie—they are a very difficult bunch. But the more I work with them, the more I love them. My students are challenging, loud, and headstrong. They’re also enthusiastic, passionate, and loyal.
My kids have so much potential to make a difference in the world, and my goal as a library media specialist is ultimately to engage their curious minds and let them know that their thoughts and ideas matter.
Our student population is made up of approximately 60% black/African American, 25% Hispanic/Latino, and 8% white students, with the remainder representing other ethnicities. As a Title I school, the majority of our students come from low-income households.
My Project
Help me make storytime a magical experience for my students with this enchanting rug! Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it will be so much fun for the kids to sit on and will most definitely engage their curious minds.
What better metaphor for a library than the Tree of Knowledge — or in this case, a carpet featuring a gorgeous tree with books hanging in the branches, nesting in the hollow, and sitting by the roots?
Right now, our school library has two old (rather ugly) smaller rugs pushed together to create one big rug. I would love for my students to have a large carpet to sit on during storytime, and this one is perfect!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
