This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This school year, I have been blessed with a very enthusiastic bunch of second graders who are eager to learn. The only thing that seems to stand in their way is the label of being economically challenged. Not having adequate finances often keeps my students from having sufficient class materials, money for field trips, and sometimes it even prevents them from having reading or class materials to take home to complete assignments.
My scholars deserve the opportunity to be the best they can be in all that they do, no matter their economic or social status.
My Project
COVID has affected students in so many different ways. The group of students that I have now were in Kindergarten when COVID first hit and they have lost a year and a half of solid instruction.
My students need workbooks they can take home to get extra practice with High Frequency Words.
They also need a way to keep them safe and store them in the classroom as well as at home.
This project will allow them to do just that and they will be super excited to have books they can call their own.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
