This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a group of energetic, enthusiastic and fun first graders. They love being read to and particularly enjoy their time on the carpet during shared reading. They love to look at pictures and make connections to their lives. They especially love when I read from the big books in our collection because everyone can clearly see, imagine, connect and wonder. I want to continue to build on this interest by having my big books in our collection. I want them to become active thinkers, and really learn to enjoy literature.
With your help we can help to continue to grow my students' love of literature.
We could be sitting amongst future illustrators, or writers. Having a collection of big books that are informative yet enjoyable can help the children continue to want to become better readers. This can also inspire my nonreaders to love reading and work toward their goals of becoming fluent readers.
