We are located in East New York, Brooklyn, NY. My pre-kindergarten students come from a variety of backgrounds, including Bangladesh, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and of course, the United States to name a few! Many students recently immigrated with their parents and English is their second language. They enjoy learning through play as we explore ten themes throughout the year. As the children explore the many themes, we read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts daily. As years go by, the titles are read over and over, causing tears and damage to these books. We would love a new and improved library for the children to enjoy.
Throughout the year we study: Where We Live, Transportation, Light, Babies, Plants and Transformation.
Please help us replace our old library with beautiful new books!
My Project
Our children have limited libraries at home. When they get to school, their reading time is so exciting. Students who are read to daily begin a life of a love of reading. Children who learn to love books early continue this great habit for the rest of their lives. Books and reading impact everyday learning and life. Your help will not just impact this year, but the children for the future. NYC aims to get the children "Career and college ready." Books are a wonderful start! Books teach lessons, excite students, and improve English.
