My Project
My Kindergarten students love to read and listen to books. During our Reading Workshop time, you will find students sitting on bean bags, students stretched out on the carpet, or some students sitting side by side reading, laughing, and talking about books.
I want to continue to foster a love for books and reading in my Kindergarten classroom.
Having the right books in our library for my students to access is key and necessary. There’s nothing like having a big book displayed so everyone can see it and engage in the text. These big books, picture books, and leveled readers will be used during our guided reading time where I gather a small of students at my table and teach reading strategies and decoding skills. These resources can be sent home so my students can practice their reading and share their reading skills with their families. These resources can also be used as mentor texts where my students can learn about author’s craft and become future authors of their own books. Adding these big books and read aloud books to our library would help boost the engagement, excitement, and compassion for literature and learning in our Kindergarten classroom.
