My Project
In my vibrant ELA classroom in Philadelphia, I am dedicated to fostering a love for learning and empowering my students to reach their fullest potential. Many of my students come from low-income families and face significant barriers to accessing educational resources outside of school. One of the most powerful tools I can provide them is a rich collection of books that inspire curiosity, imagination, and critical thinking. Currently, my classroom library is limited in both quantity and diversity, falling short of meeting the needs and interests of my middle school readers. With your support, I hope to build a robust and inclusive library that will provide my students with the opportunity to explore different cultures, experiences, and ideas.

When my students are surrounded by a variety of engaging and age-appropriate books, they develop a passion for reading that extends beyond the classroom. This love for reading can improve their literacy skills and enhance their overall academic performance. Also, many of my students rarely see themselves reflected in the books they read. By including books that showcase diverse characters and experiences, I can help my students build self-esteem and empathy, allowing them to see the possibilities within themselves and others.
