Everyday in our classroom the students participate in centers. The listening center is a vital part of the day. It allows the students to listen to a model of good reading. It is important that they continue to be immersed in all types of literature.
The high poverty school and classrooms are in need of all resources.
Our second grade classroom is no different. This donation of books allows the students to be introduced to a wide variety of texts and learn about the culture around them. It is important to foster the literacy learning at such a young age.
My Project
The students will use these books everyday within our literacy block. They will have hands on interaction with the books, characters and author's point of view through the use of the listening center. Students will then be expected to complete book reports about the information they learned inside the story.
My students will have the opportunity to be more diverse in their learning.
They will be able to interact with fiction, non fiction and historical fiction text through the use of the listening center.
