My students need 4 TAG School Readers, a set of transitional interactive readers, and two TAG activity books.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. H-T's classroom raised $566
This project is fully funded
Imagine every child in a classroom getting immediate feedback to guide their literacy instruction! TAG readers can help struggling readers by motivating them to read and providing them with direct, accurate feedback.
As a first year Special Education teacher at a very low income school, I have very little supplies available for my special education students. Supplies, especially technological materials, are hard to provide to my students due to extreme budget cuts. Many of my student's families live in poverty and have to overcome many challenges. The parents do not have the time or the resources to read to their children at home. They struggle to provide basic school supplies for their children. My students are also a transient group, as there are many military families in our district due to the large Naval bases in our area. Some of my students have moved more than 10 times and often have deployed parents away from home. Still, they come to school every day and work very hard to learn and achieve.
Since my students are very low readers, they often depend on teachers to read their assignments to them. TAG readers use a touch reading system that “brings books to life.” The pens use a touch-to-talk system that read the books aloud. Throughout the books, the system scaffolds learning by asking children questions that can be answered through the TAG pen. Giving them these TAG readers will enable them to independently explore books. The TAG system also builds vital skills such as reading comprehension, phonics, vocabulary, and reading fluency in an interactive fashion. My special students will be receiving direct instruction from the interactive system which will truly motivate them to love reading.
You can give special students confidence with books. Giving to this project will provide students a chance to get one-on-one independent reading instruction while they are having fun!
