This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Up to this point in time, it is still very evident the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on my students with autism. Their increased anxiety and difficulty self-regulating are apparent at school due to emergency-related school disruptions in the past that affected their routines and social interactions with their peers. This is why I am requesting funding for sensory tools for my autism classroom for the upcoming academic year. Sensory tools are essential for my students as they help them regulate their emotions and behavior. Last year, two projects of mine got fully funded, and I also purchased some sensory tools for my classroom. Unfortunately, since my students use these tools a lot, they are no longer in their best shape. Therefore, I am requesting these tools again, such as fidget spinners, pop tubes, stretchy fidgets, sensory bottles, sensory water beads, sensory suction toys, stretch and squeeze stress balls, 3D pin art board. I am also adding sensory support for my classroom, like visual timers, chew necklaces, fluorescent lamp covers, and aroma diffusers to help students maintain mental acuity, focus, and learn.

By providing these necessary sensory tools and support, my students will be motivated, equipped, and thrive in class.
