Tactile Learning With the Ipod Touch!

My Students

What may seem like silly games could very well be great learning opportunities. Kids are enthralled with technology. They want to be just like their parents who they see on their smart phones and ipods. Apple has tons of free learning apps for young children.

We are in a brand new school!

My students come from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment in West Tennessee. I teach in an optional classroom and the children are very bright. I have to constantly come up with creative ideas to engage their minds. My students like hands-on activities.

My Project

Students don't like to sit all day without engaging activities. These ipods will help make learning fun! They will be able to practice reading and math in partner groups by playing different learning applications. While they are working independently in the centers, I can work with a small group. These materials will not only help my students this year, but in years to come. Look back at your elementary years. Did you want to sit all day and do worksheet after worksheet. With tactile activities, students learn by being creative and playing games.

Students already have a need for technology in the classroom.

They have technology at home. Bringing ipods into the classroom provides students with a foundation for learning through technology.
