Tackling Both: Cold Weather and Testing Season!

Help me give my students essential materials to help keep them healthy during the winter months and tasty treats to help them focus during testing season!

My Students

My students are loving, creative and hardworking middle school scholars. They enjoy learning new things and making connections from school content to the real world. Our class community is full of collaboration and has a strong sense of community. In our math classroom my scholars excel socially as well as academically!

Many of my students become frustrated with themselves when they feel ill-prepared for class and instructional time.

My scholars come from economically disadvantaged homes in the inner city of the largest urban school district in the state. All of our students are at-risk and receive free or reduced lunch. They know they have the ability to amount to greatness, they just need the guidance and materials to succeed.

My Project

Like most school aged students December through March are the germiest months of the year. Many of my scholars come to school with minor and sometimes major colds. In order to prevent the spread of germs, I ensure proper hygiene rules in my classroom which involves students knowing how and when to behave when they are ill. The Kleenex and hand sanitizer will allow them to handle their business appropriately, without the disruption of having to leave the classroom to attend the restroom each time they need to blow their noses. The Clorox wipes will be used to clean their desks and materials to disinfect the bacteria.

With the materials to prevent the spreading of germs, my scholars will be able to focus on their academics and not spread germs!

During the next few months is also testing season for my middle school scholars. Testing season involves taking standardized tests on a state and district level. My scholars take testing very seriously and maintain focus to improve their previous scores. The sweet treats will not only motivate the students to stay focused during testing, but they will also be a reward for their hard work and effort while testing!
