My Students
Picture this: Rochelle ISD is a single school district nestled deep in the heart of Texas; our students are rural kids with rural values and rural socioeconomic needs. Don’t be mistaken, though, our students are some of the sweetest, kindest, and most positive-oriented students in the entire state of Texas. And we are all of those qualities and so many more and don’t have the most up-to-date or luxurious amenities…we get by and we are happy to be Hornets regardless. When we face challenges as a school community, we face them as a collective and with collective effort. Our students work hard both inside and outside of the classroom; in tiny Rochelle, Texas, the major activities are centered on and revolve around our school. Our students are truly the backbone of this community – they are each involved in a plethora of activities and oftentimes spend several hours at our campus after school and on the weekends. Our closeness only enhances the bonds that we all share as members of the Hornet community.
My Project
Having the XP-PEN tablets will allow my students to engage math content through the use of proven strategies (writing down the steps, showing the work and mathematical computations) while using a contemporary, modern-day tool (such as the XP-PEN).
Students will simply have to plug in their XP-PEN writing tablet to their school-issued laptop in order to be able to write on top of the curriculum that I will supply electronically through our class website and/or Google Classroom.
Students will be able to submit assignments with their shown work, which in turn provides me with performance data that guide my next steps as their instructor.
