This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am filled with excitement to meet my new class of 32 this year! I look forward to seeing their minds grow, and love for learning blossom.

Working in a low-income, high-poverty area, my students face challenges beyond their years.

The average annual income of our families is around $20,000, and most of my students are learning English as their second language. My goal is to give my students every tool they need to be successful.

Each classroom is named after the Teacher's Alma Mater, and my First Graders will represent Columbia College Chicago!

My Project

Most of my 32 students are learning English as their Second Language. With the help of today's technology, the possibilities for differentiated literacy instruction are endless.

Apps available for tablets not only help teach young children how to read, they make it fun!

Students are able to see their favorite characters encouraging them on in a form children are always eager to participate with.

Tablets in our classroom will help continue to make learning to read fun. The excitement I see in my students when they are able to use something they may not have at home is incredible. With the help of these tablets I can continue to ensure my students are getting the most practice possible!
