My Students

I teach in a diverse school in Oakland. I have a wonderful group of kindergarten students this year who are motivated to learn to read. Most of my students did not know their letters and sounds in the beginning of the year. More than half of the class have learned their letters and sounds in the last seven weeks of school. They are a hard working group of students! I am so proud of them!

My students have different styles of learning and each child learns at their own pace.

I would like them to have access to a variety of different learning tools and programs for reading as well as mathematics.

My Project

Tablets are a great way to add technology to the classroom. There are many interactive reading and math programs that students can use on tablets. Now that more than half of my students know their letters and sounds, they can focus on learning to read words! Our school uses a reading program called Raz-Kids. This program is set to their individual reading levels and helps them progress with each level.

Your donation of tablets will not only help students learn how to use technology safely but will reinforce the academics that they are learning in class.

Students will use the tablets during the Word Work portion of Daily 5. My students love Daily 5 and I know the added use of tablets will make them enjoy this time of day even more.
