This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students come from shelters or single parent homes. They live and go to school in a very rough neighborhood and have seen and experienced things they shouldn't be exposed to at a very young age.
Going to school is the one constant in their lives and I try to make it as fun and easy as possible for my students to learn life concepts.
Many of the children don't have the life experiences that will help them understand simple concepts.
My Project
Children love technology. Unfortunately, my classroom only has 3 iPads. My students don't get the opportunity to frequently use them because there is not enough. These seven tablets will ensure that the children will get the chance to read and do research at least a few times a week. Since all kids learn differently, this will also help because not only will they have the opportunity to read "just right" books, the children could also be read to with some of the programs that are out there. This grant will also greatly help them build their self-esteem. The stronger reader they become, the better they will feel about themselves. Lastly, these tablets will also be a great way to motivate my students to come to school. Most of them can't afford the technology at home, so by coming to school they can use it.
