Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Mobile learning, personalized learning, transparency, engagement and collaboration are a necessity in the classroom. Students do not want the teacher from the old "Charlie Brown" show from Peanuts...they want movement, interaction and inquiry. Tablets are the new start to this initiative!
The urban school that I teach at is a title 1 school and has struggled through mastery examinations.
Science is still included in the state of CT under the Common Core Standards until at least year 2017, and every door I can open for these students that have nothing when they go home that is scientific, makes a world of difference. My students' scores have risen over the years on the science CMT testing since I've been on a mission to have a complete technology classroom that fulfills what every class should have. I wish I could get each student of mine a tablet to use for classwork, projects and homework...yet this is just the beginning of my mission for this to happen, so maybe some day all my students will!
My Project
As I said before, technology in my science classroom is essential to "grab" my students attention since they don't have anything when they go home. Our district is in dire needs of materials to create interest in our children, and I'm on a mission to create this dream...all my students having the ability to use technology in class and love it so they understand that science is the most important subject to learn in this day and age. My students will be able to create new biology labs using 3D technology, use as a reference during experiments, examine cells to animal parts and video tape their accomplishments while uploading to the school facebook page to show their family and friends.
Other countries are beating us in advances in all science fields, and I believe I can change that a year at a time with my classroom.

A tablet will show how technology is changing so quickly, and each group of students will have the chance to use this for each project that I create on the tablet. With 4D technology on the rise, every classroom in America needs tablets to envision a positive scientific future!
