This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a reading intervention teacher who teaches 36 hardworking and eager students from kindergarten through third grade. While teaching my students how to read and write, I incorporate creative ways to engage and "hook" them. My students enjoy Reader's Theater, which helps them with fluency and comprehension, but I have decided to step it up a notch by including music and art into our Reader's Theater.
My students' Reader's Theater will come alive with the background music they play and illustrations they draw on the tablet with the surface pen.
Their creativity will flow as they draw the characters, setting, and plot in SketchBook or even make a slideshow to read and share. I will do directed drawings to build their confidence in basic drawing techniques, which my students lack.
My students will use this device during our small group intervention time, and it will be used for many years to come. What an awesome way to incorporate technology, music, art, reading, and writing!
