My school is a Title 1 school with over 80% receiving free or reduced price lunches.

People who visit our school say that the students are extremely kind, caring, and helpful. Our teachers strive to help these students become educated, responsible citizens. The majority of these wonderful kids do not have access to technology at home. I hope to provide these students with access to technology to help prepare them for their future and motivate them for success. Tablets are essential tools for learning in the 21st century, and I'm concerned that these students will fall behind if we don't help them now.

My Project

Students at our elementary school currently have very little access to ebooks, educational apps, and digital learning. My students need 12 Kindle Fire tablets with cases, to help them reach their full potential in our digital world. These tablets will open a whole new world for the students. Imagine not knowing how to take notes while reading an ebook, how to make a digital presentation of research findings, or how to use internet creativity apps. These skills are absolutely necessary for success in today's world. With the help of small, portable devices, like the Kindle Fire tablets, my students will be able to enhance learning through engaging educational apps and other activities. Kindle Fire tablets will enable me to incorporate technology into my instruction which will motivate and engage my students on their way to mastering skills needed for a technology rich future. Students will be able to improve their reading fluency and comprehension while reading books that they find most exciting. The access to online research sites through Kindle Fire tablets will improve their academic performance.
