Tables to Transform Part Two

My students need two tables to use in our classroom so we can fully implement flexible seating and work collaboratively.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Grant's classroom raised $413

My Students

Our classroom is full of eager 3rd graders who are ready to learn! We are a part of a pretty large elementary school in a small, rural town near the coast where almost all are on free lunch. A lot of my students don't have a lot of opportunities outside of our small town. My goal is to provide my students with meaningful life experiences while we learn together.

Fostering community and teamwork among my little learners is very important.

Many of our students don't live in traditional homes and they need to feel stability at school. My plan is to use my project to teach and build a sense of community and teamwork that will stay with them through their lives.

My Project

These tables will transform our learning space into a collaborative environment where we can easily work and problem solve together. Our classroom has been blessed with flexible seating options which are awesome for students with attention and sensory issues. We currently have desks that are almost as old as me and we daily deal with legs coming off and other struggles age brings. They also won't push together evenly and it is hard for students to work together. This makes our flexible seating difficult to implement.

Having these tables instead of traditional desks will allow us to fully implement flexible seating and transform our learning space into a place where children have options that help them become the best student they can be.

My students will be able to move around during the day and work with different people. My students will benefit because they will not only be able to easily work together, but they will be able to utilize our flexible seating in the classroom which allows movement, a necessity for many of my children who struggle with ADHD. The tables will also foster collaboration which is an essential life skill. I am excited about the opportunities tables versus traditional desks will bring!
