This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine working at a desk that is cramped and disorganized. My students use computers daily to complete intervention programs. Unfortunately, we sometimes have water leaking in our room and the tables are not sized to hold all of the computer equipment off the floor.

I am privileged to teach 4th and 5th grade students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained classroom.

Our school is located in a low-income area with a majority of second language learners. My students are greatly challenged when attempting to access grade level curriculum. Many struggle to retain concepts and therefore perform far below grade level. While they are eager to learn new things, they need additional support to access the core curriculum and meet grade level standards.

My Project

My technology center needs to be better organized for students to learn more efficiently. Computer components and parts are stacked and crammed onto tables to keep them off the floor. On rainy days, my floor sometimes gets wet so I can't put a CPU there. We have donated computers that work great, but are too large to fit on a standard desk. My students are constantly bumping each other when working in this area. With computer desks, each student will have a station with adequate space to work. The included shelves will provide additional space to place CPUs and printers. Cords will be more easily managed, as these desks have holes provided for hook-ups.

These computer desks will allow 3 students to work at each desk and still have enough room to move around.

They will free up space in the classroom and keep technology components more organized and off the floor. With your support, my students will be able to use their computers more efficiently.
