My Project
I absolutely love my students’ resilience, creativity, and determination. As a veteran 7th and 10th grade World History teacher and an Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon coach, I have the honor of working with students who persevere through challenges and strive for excellence. This year, many are returning after Winter Break and the devastating Southern California wildfires, facing emotional and social hurdles along the way. Despite these difficulties, my students remain eager to learn, collaborate, and grow.
Unfortunately, our current classroom tables are not up to the task.
They are cracked, chipped, and scratched so badly that cleaning them has even given me splinters. These tables, designed for younger students, are also too small for high schoolers, making them uncomfortable and distracting during lessons. Imagine students hitting their knees on a bar underneath the table as they try to focus on a debate or teamwork during Academic Decathlon practice. My goal is to transform their learning environment by providing new, comfortable, and functional tables that foster focus, collaboration, and engagement.
