My students need a small group table.

This project is fully funded

I teach a class of 14 wonderful third grade students in North Carolina. My students come from a high poverty, high-need community.

We spend much of our school day working in small groups. This is a great way to get students talking and learning from each other. The small groups also help me to teach specific skills to specific students. However, we do not have the adequate furniture that we need in our classroom to facilitate all of our small group work. My students can't sit at some of the tables because they are too small; they are squished and squeezed next to each other to fit around the table. Right now, we don't even have enough tables so we have to substitute extra desks as make-shift tables; this does not provide nearly enough space for my students to work. My students try hard to complete their work, but sometimes they get frustrated that they don't have enough space to work. Also, I am usually stuck standing over the students or crammed next to the students because there is nowhere for me to sit and teach. We need appropriate furniture to fit our needs.

I am requesting a kidney-shaped table. The table will give the students enough room to sit and work comfortably. This table will also give me a place to sit where I can teach, assess, talk, and engage with all students.

This furniture would really make a huge difference in how efficiently and effectively our classroom runs. My students would be so grateful to have a space to work where they feel comfortable and happy.
