About My Students
Conversations between two of the students, Jamie and Victoria, and the Science teacher led to the discussion of the need for tables.
Every day a small group of girls in our 8th grade class eat lunch with our Science teacher in her room. The girls help out and work on school projects in her room. In the weeks leading up to the Annual Science Fair the group of students help out significantly with organizing and planning the event. They quickly realized how we have a limited number of tables for the displays and exhibits.
The folding tables will allow our school to host our Annual Science Fair. The students complete experiments and then they create a science fair board that is placed on display. We invite judges to come in from outside of the school. Students are allotted a time to come up and answer any of the judges questions regarding their project. The entire project process teaches our students the steps of real-life problem solving. It is also a great preparation for when our students advance academically and move on to high school or higher education.
In Their Own Words
We are trying to get folding tables that we will be able to use for our Annual Science Fair. The project display boards need to be presented on an elevated surface. The folding tables are greatly needed!
All of our teachers do so much for us on a daily basis. With the budget cuts there are no funds for the purchase of folding tables. We would like to be able to contribute these tables so that our school can use them when events such as the Annual Science Fair are being hosted.
When an event is being hosted at the school the staff has to practically beg students, staff and parents to bring in folding tables. Our school has access to just three folding tables, which belong to our Home and School. Our Science Teacher won't have to beg for any more folding tables!
