Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These tables and chairs will be crucial in creating a more equitable classroom experience for my students.
This upgrade from the traditional individual, connected desk/chair, will greatly enhance not only the learning experience but the collaborative, social one as well making the room more equitable and inclusive.
These tables and chairs will create inclusion for all body types which will in turn reduce mental health strain. The more comfortable students are in a classroom, the less opportunity for anxiety to be associated with their day. In addition, the tables will allow for special needs or left handed students to be better served. Currently the desks, which are from the 1980's, do not accommodate anyone who is left handed or who come to class with a wheelchair or with other medical accoutrements.
These tables and chairs will greatly enhance the classroom setting not just for the aforementioned inclusion, equity and mental health purposes but also for the plethora of ways to configure the tables for a myriad of activities and allow everyone to feel comfortable in the space.
