This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to our small charter school so that they will not get lost in the over two thousand student local high school. Their parents have big dreams for their children but many lack the knowledge of how to get to college. Over 90% of our students will be first generation college students and many have parents who did not have the opportunity to go to high school.
Graduation day is amazing at our school.
Watching a student be the first one in their family to walk across the stage and receive a diploma, is a life-changing experience. Knowing that they are on their way to college makes all the hard work worthwhile.
My Project
My students are back in the classroom for the first time since March 2020. We are all trying to relearn in a group environment and off the computer. The supplies in this project will allow me to make a table caddy for each of my 7 tables, filled with supplies and fidget toys.
High school students love new supplies.
Colorful pens make taking notes more fun and engaging. Not having to worry if you can find a highlighter when your teacher wants you to use one makes the classroom feel more comfortable. Playing with a small toy can help a student stay off their cell phone and more able to pay attention to the class.
