My Students

My students are eager Pre-Kindergarteners. They are like sponges who soak up information and knowledge. The best way to do that is with hands-on activities, which includes trips. Now that the new year has started, we get the privilege of going on field trips like the big kids.

This is the first year of school for many of my students.

They are very excited about learning and I am glad that I have a hand in their early education. For many of my students, the places that we are visiting such as the zoos, museums, farms, and shows will be the first time that they will be experiencing this. Whenever we tell them that they are going on a trip soon, as with all kids, they cannot wait to go. While on these trips, we encounter many other schools from the city with their students. All schools have their designated t-shirt colors. Unfortunately many schools have shirts similar in color and all the children eventually blend in together. I want to make these trips memorable, fun and most importantly - safe.

My Project

The best way that I want to make them safe on trips is to have new shirts designed for them. These shirts would be baseball style shirts that are different from the traditional crewnecks that other students would be wearing. The best part of the shirt is that the name on the front says "TEAM PAERDEGAT." This message creates a sense of unity for the students. Not only are they students of their school, they are their own entity within the school in the Pre-Kindergarten class. Also included on the shirt is the school's information in case they do get lost. I want to make it easy for other people to help my students without revealing any information about the child themselves.

My students will benefit greatly from these shirts by helping to keep them safe on school trips, as well as showing their pride in being in Pre-Kindergarten.

They will always have this shirt to help them remember their first year in public school.
