My students need a tall table and bar stools to add some more options for flexible seating in my classroom. Some students prefer to stand when they work and the table would be perfect.
I teach about 135 seventh grade students, and a large percentage of those are gifted and talented. Middle schoolers are my absolute favorite to teach. They're at their most awkward stage in life, and you can't help but to love them.
My students are creative, expressive, persistent, hard-working, and energetic!
They are sponges, and they love to learn. School is a priority to them, and they are driven by their success. They love to socialize, so my classroom is always full of conversation and laughter.
Collaborative learning is something I stress with my middle schoolers daily. I don't want to be their only learning source. Every day my students show me how much they can learn from helping each other. Despite the many characteristics that they share, my students' wants and needs can vary greatly. They have different interests and learning styles, and I hope that having multiple flexible seating and collaborative options will cater to those needs.
My Project
Many of my students choose to stand up when they work. They usually go back to my lab tables to do this, but this keeps them isolated from the rest of the class. The tall table and the bar stools will be perfect for those students that would choose to stand over sit, or those that want to swivel while they work.
Students learn best when they are comfortable.
By adding different seating options in my classroom I am hoping to help every student find a seat that best fits their needs and keeps them engaged and wanting to come to class.
